On Saturday, my chances of winning my NCAA pool slipped down the proverbial drain of despair when UCONN lost to Michigan State. I had a whole 10 bucks riding on that game.
Perhaps you’ll have better luck with this short quiz than I did with my pool. The task is to identify the NAME (and team if you like) of the following sports mascots.
Happy Scheming.

Follow-Up: One of the four NHL mascots pictured above is also the league’s oldest mascot. Which one is it?
Follow-Follow-Up: In the Simpsons Episode “Dancin’ Homer,” Homer Simpson gets to share the stage with which legendary Capital City mascot?

Brookie
3. Carleton the Bear – Toronto Maple Leafs
4. Harvey the Hound – Calgary Flames (also the NHL’s oldest mascot)
7. Otto the Orange (Syracuse Orange)
I’ll leave the rest for others!

I had a feeling you’d get Carlton the Bear. Effeminate polar bear = best metaphor for team’s play over the past decade.
Also, Otto the orange is right, and Harvey the Hound is correct on both counts.

5. Mariner Moose – Seattle Mariners
6. Mr Met – New York Mets
8. Phillie Phanatic – Philadelphia Phillies

And Laura gets the baseball ones correct! Is someone excited for Opening day?

Laura
I have to say that Otto the Orange is the best. Especially when it comes to waving his arms frantically.

I’ll add Youppi, Ace, and Spartacat.
How did you get the images to pop out like that?

Those are correct, Tom.
The image effect is called “Lightbox”.
